My birth certificate says Michael… but you may know me as Percy.
In April of 2017, I began the Where’s Percy Facebook account. The premise was simple: I would post a photo of Percy (my Waldo-inspired alter ego) enjoying a landmark, event, or other places in Connecticut (and beyond!) and folks would comment on the post, being as specific as possible, guessing where I was. For every correct answer, I donated $1 to Seymour Pink. It was a way to spread some joy on social media while also giving back to an organization that means a lot to me.
Since then, Where’s Percy has grown beyond my wildest dreams. I have been able to bring my passion for running into the Where’s Percy story and have been spreading cancer awareness while wearing my striped uniform for 5Ks, half-marathons, and even a full marathon in Washington D.C.—twice.
The community has rallied around the Where’s Percy movement and I couldn’t be more grateful.
This year, I am excited to launch Run Cancer Out of CT — a movement to raise $4,800 as I run 4,800 miles. This isn’t a random number: Connecticut is roughly 4,800 square miles in area. I hope you will join me in raising funds for Seymour Pink to run cancer out of Connecticut and help those facing one of the toughest challenges of their lives.
Thank you.
